Another Game and Another Victory!

Indy Crash defeated the Derby City Dynamite!

DCD boasted no one could score against their defense and Indy Crash had to heed the call scoring three touch downs on Saturday’s game.  It was a very physical game on both sides of the ball with DCD scoring 14 points to Indy Crashes 18 points in uncomfortable conditions.  Just like the last time Indy Crash won against the DCD at home on April 14th, it was raining.  The difference was the turf.  The DCD home field is an old school, dirt football field that, unfortunately, needed to be mowed.  Adding rain turned the field into a mud bowl with both teams struggling to hold onto the slippery ball and footing a little difficult.  But hey, it's football and both teams stayed very physical with Indy Crash coming out the victor.

The Indy Crash wants to thank the fans that traveled with the team to Kentucky and wish the DCD luck in the rest of their season.

Indy Crash is now focused on our next game against West Michigan Mayhem on May 19th in Kalamazoo Michigan.  Fans, click on the schedule to look up directions to travel with the team.

Offense got its groove back!

So far this season, the Blue Thunder (the Crash offense) has struggled.  With multiple injuries, very new rookies, and a new offensive system the offense seemed to have lost their groove and the Crash has had to depend on the Orange Crush (the Crash defense) to carry the team.  The shutout victory against the Cincinnati Sizzle on Saturday with a final score of 56-0 is evident that the Blue Thunder has gotten its groove back.  Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator, C. Shaun Owens noted, “some new plays added for this game were great plays for us Saturday and definitely something for us to build upon going forward.  I think we finally have a great tight end package with Jill and Kiva.  I think Drea is turning into a phenomenal running back and our O-Line is getting better each week which is what we want.”

The offense is only part of the story.  Anytime the Indy Crash plays against the Cincinnati Sizzle there is a new and interesting twist.  The defensive coordinator, Coach Sean Owens has a little sister, Liana Owens, and she is #42 of the Sizzle.  Coach Sean could be heard on the sideline both encouraging and coaching the defense, but also pushing his sister to play harder.  There was a tense moment when Big Easy, Anna Wilson, tackled Liana Owens and Liana didn't get right back up.  Big Easy went to her huddle and took a knee like everyone else, as Coach Sean went to his sister's side.  As soon as Coach Sean knew for himself that his sister was ok he called in the next play.  When Offense took the field Coach Sean pulled Big Easy aside.  While everyone held their breath, Coach Sean hugged Big Easy and told her, "great hit!"  Big Easy actually got the hardest hit award after the game for that tackle.  We are all glad Liana is ok.  The sibling rivalry aside, the Orange Crush was on their game despite several key players being out with injury or illness.  The defense dominated the Sizzle with sheer speed and brute strength.

The Indy Crash enjoyed their victory but is now focused on the first away game against Derby City Dynamite.  Indy Crash won against the Derby City Dynamite at the season opener; however as a team the Crash was not happy with their performance.  The Derby City Dynamite will see a different Indy Crash at this game and the coaches and players have something to prove to themselves at this game.

Second game down...

The second game of the season is history and not a history we would like to repeat.  Indy Crash was defeated by the Chicago Force with an embarassing score of 72-0.  Prior to the game, Indy Crash was plagued by injuries with eight players benched for at least this game and some will have to recover for the rest of the season.  Even with all the players unable to play, the rest of the team did our best with some players doing iron woman.  We have to give Chicago Force a lot of respect.  They are a well coached and organized team.  We look forward to playing them again on their field on June, 2nd.

It is not all bad news.  Even with the shortage of players, The Indy Crash still had improvements and look forward to the next game with several of our injured players coming back on the field.
